MOC have been appointed the MWS by Dong Energy for the loadout, transport and installation of the new Suction Bucket Foundations – Borkum Riffgrund 2 OWF, in a joint endeavour to achieve Excellency in Marine Operations.
This type of foundations is a new frontier in the Jacket Foundations Development, having the advantage of being installed in considerably less time than a piled jacket or conventional monopile and later easier decommissioned.
However, there are numerous specific challenges (structural, logistic, geotechnical and not only) associated with the loadout / off-loading, marine transport and installation of SBJ Foundation Type.
